Out of upstate New York, The PushRods perform an incredibly catchy, powerful blend of old-school punk rock and all-American rock & roll, layered with memorable lyrical and musical hooks. Part of the band’s charisma and pull, along with their wild live performances and popular material, is due to the sheer genius of The PushRods’ showmanship The power-trio dubbed their signature style porn-punk. To paraphrase, porn-punk is aggressively-catchy rock & roll about hot girls, volatile relationships, and beer; with in-your-head-forever hooks, and a tight, punchy old-school punk rock feel. Porn-punk pulls no punches--it is immediately discernable, rapidly assimilated punk rock that is as funny as it is tough, and tight. Much like their blue-collar lyrical content, the PushRods are born of an old-school work ethic and attitude. Until recently, the band has been completely self-contained; in addition to handling their own writing and arranging, their first two albums were self-produced (and well-received), and they do their own booking, marketing and merchandising. Their efforts' yield includes heavy college and internet radio spins, gigs with national acts, roles in independent slasher films (sporting PushRods’ t-shirts), licensing arrangements with the adult industry, and a diverse PushRods product line; which even includes logo-emblazoned condoms. Their ceaseless efforts have created legions of rabid, loyal fans around the nation and around the world. Back in ’95, visionary front-man Sideshow (vocals, guitar) started the PushRods as a duo that gigged coffee houses in upstate New York. Due to their content, they were forcibly removed from most of said venues and instructed to never return. Undeterred, Sideshow began his quest to form the ultimate PushRods line-up with which to conquer the world. Eight-drummers (and hundreds of gigs) later, Sideshow brought in Crow(drums) to beat the skins in 2003. Things worked out so well, and so quickly, that the band recorded their first album, “XXX,” just 2 months after Crow joined. The album did well on college radio throughout the north-east and the band began gigging. Face (bass) was brought onboard in 2004 after winning Sideshow and Crow over with his strong playing style and his charismatic I-own-this-venue demeanor. With the addition of Face, the master line-up was finally in place. In 2005, the PushRods recorded and independently released their follow-up CD, “Girls in Vinyl Skirts” to rave reviews. The band was almost immediately swamped with performance requests for bigger, high-profile shows, including festivals and appearances with national acts. The PushRods knuckled-down and became even more pro-active, ultimately releasing new merchandise , and promoting ,themselves on the internet without pause. The PushRods became the 2nd most-downloaded band on mowhawkradio.com (bested only by The Casualties: a national punk act with label support), and the 2nd most-requested band in a contest on UVTV.info. The band diversified their promotional scheme by licensing material within the adult industry and starring in independent horror films. In addition, PushRods material became heavy-rotation on an increasing number of significant internet radio programs. The band was pushing forward around the clock and coming ever closer to the realization of their dream. Everything came to a head in 2006 for the PushRods when the band was approached by producer Jeff DaBella (Autopilot Off, Island/Universal). DaBella was convinced in the band’s validity due their powerful catalog, pro performance quality and uncompromising work ethic. The immediate result of the collaboration was a powerful new album entitled "Devil Wears A Bra" 10 tracks of memorable, punchy, hysterical punk rock anthems, the quality and marketability of which far surpassed all expectations. Par for the course, the PushRods are already working on a new album with DaBella, which will come out later this year. For the PushRods, the future is now. The band’s effort, sacrifice, genius and talent are about to catapult them into world-wide punk rock stardom. And although the PushRods will be the first to explain that while no part of the process has ever been easy, they wouldn’t change a thing. There is no substitute for truly making-your-bones in the world of punk-rock / rock & roll. With their street-cred intact and an army of screaming fans, the PushRods are finally in the drivers’ seat, and it’s no surprise. With the talent, drive and smarts that the PushRods continually bring to the table, it was only a matter of time before the monster broke loose. |
